About Volunteering at Sherbourne

Volunteers are a vital part of the team at Sherbourne Health. Volunteering contributes to creating excellent services for our clients, and also provides an opportunity for people who want to gain experience, give back to their community and who want to help others. At Sherbourne Health we celebrate the impact volunteers make, and express our sincerest gratitude for their selfless dedication to our community.

Volunteering at Sherbourne

We are looking for individuals who have the necessary skills for our volunteer roles, and who can commit to volunteering for a minimum of 3-6 months. If you are not able to commit to a long-term volunteer placement, we have opportunities to volunteer to support special events.

Volunteers who are accepted for a position that requires more than one-time events contact with clients must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check from Toronto Police Services. Please be advised that wait times to process these checks can be upwards of four weeks and cost is $26.72. If cost is a barrier for you, please let the HR Coordinator processing your application know.

Volunteers who have contact with clients will be screened using a Vulnerable Sector Screening. All volunteers are matched to a role that aligns with their interest and availability and provided with training. If you are interested, the first step is to submit an application and attend an information session. Applications can be submitted online here or can be completed in person with the support of Community Resource Worker at 333 Sherbourne St. To connect with a Community Resource Worker, talk to a medical secretary.
