Mental health intake is available Monday to Friday between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm. Intakes can be accessed by phoning Sherbourne’s main switchboard at 416-324-4100 and following the voice prompts. Or, by calling the intake line at 647-730-7010. Callers can leave their information on our secure intake line and we will attempt to follow up within 24 to 48 hours.
NOTE: We do not require formal provider referrals for external (non-Sherbourne registered clients) mental health intakes. Clients can also self-refer to our mental health services.
Intake Interviews & Assessments
Intake interviews and assessments need to be completed directly (by phone or face-face) with the client who is interested in accessing mental health services. These interviews typically last approximately 30 minutes each. If clients do not have a phone, they may also come to Sherbourne Health Centre requesting service (during the times listed above). In such a case (dependent on availability), the Mental Health Intake Counsellor will either do an intake onsite or arrange for an appointment at a later time.
The Mental Health Team generally offers up to 25 individual sessions negotiated between you and your counsellor according to goals, treatment plans and other counselling or case needs. Each session typically runs between 50 to 60 minutes.
All clients who have completed intake are placed onto our mental health waitlist; depending on current demand, wait times can fluctuate. Please contact a Mental Health Intake Counsellor for more information (647-730-7010). If wait times are excessive for you, we can/will arrange for alternative referrals.
NOTE: The average wait time* for our current mental health waitlist (i.e. the waiting time between completion of intake/assessment and assignment to a new mental health counsellor) is: 6 – 8 months, as of September 1, 2017.
