Sherbourne Health Centre’s LGBTQ Community Programs presents a new pilot group for trans people.
The Voice Modification Group for Trans/Gender Nonconforming Clients supports and facilitates individuals in finding and achieving their authentic voice in a safe, nurturing environment. Group members, the clinician and Sherbourne staff involved in running the group work together to establish a positive culture that celebrates diversity, facilitates personal growth and promotes effective voice and communication development.
The group is free, and is facilitated by speech language pathologist Sarah Cassel, who has extensive experience working with trans clients. Each participant will undergo two individual assessments (at the beginning and the end of the group) and will participate in group exercises around vocal hygiene, resonance and pitch, volume, intonation and more.
The group runs on Tuesdays from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. The group is very small so registration is limited. Sign up is on a first come, first serve basis. Those who are unable to be accommodated due to the size will be prioritized for any additional voice modification groups held in the future. This group is open to all Trans/Gender Non-conforming people, with priority given to Sherbourne clients.
