Whether you’re just starting to explore the adoption process or you’re already matched with a child\, this session will give you the tools\, support and insights to make this experience positive\, empowering and fulfilling—for you and for the child you’re welcoming into your family. \nAs 2SLGBTQ+ parents\, you bring a unique perspective to adoption\, one filled with love\, resilience and authenticity. You are part of a larger\, vibrant community of families who understand the importance of inclusion\, openness and connection. By being open with your child and family\, setting boundaries as needed and building a strong support network\, you are creating a home that will nurture and embrace your child for who they are. \nThis 4-week series aims to give you the tools and support you need to manage the early days\, weeks and months after completing your PRIDE training and home study and preparing for what comes next!

DESCRIPTION:Date: Wednesday\, June 3\, 2026 \nTime: 12–1:30 p.m. \nGuest Facilitator: Rae Jardine (she/they)\, MA\, RSSW\, CC-PMH \nDescription: This reflective workshop is designed for 2SLGBTQ+ parents\, caregivers and prospective parents who are interested in raising children outside of rigid gender norms. Grounded in anti-oppressive\, mental health–informed practice\, this session explores what gender-expansive parenting can look like in a world deeply structured by the binary. \nParticipants will be supported in building responsive parenting practices that center autonomy\, curiosity and affirming care. Whether you are already parenting or preparing to\, this workshop offers space to reflect\, learn and connect with others on similar journeys. \nParticipants will: \n\nexplore what gender expansive parenting can look like in practice across different developmental stages\nreflect on personal beliefs\, experiences\, values and socialization related to gender\nidentify common challenges\, including family\, community and institutional resistance and constraints\nlearn strategies to support children’s curiosity\, autonomy\, expression and identity exploration\ndevelop language and tools for interrupting gender policing and navigating conversations about gender with others\n\nThis is a supportive\, identity-affirming space that honours diverse parenting approaches and recognizes there is no single “right” way to parent beyond gender.
