about the role:
Reporting to the President and CEO, the HR Manager’s role requires that you have a diverse skillset as you are responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Human Resources department at Sherbourne Health. The role includes oversight in the areas of the group benefits/wellness plans, pension plan, the Occupational Health and Safety Program of the Organization, the leave management and accommodation process, and employee and labour relations.

In this role, you will provide advice and consult with the management team on HR matters and provide direction on the interpretation and administration of the Collective Agreement, HR policies and programs. You work collaboratively with others to assess problems, consider alternatives and exercise sound judgment to take the appropriate action.

This role is the ideal opportunity for an experienced HR Manager looking to provide fresh ideas and perspectives for the various HR related programs around performance management, talent management and retention strategies, whilst ensuring alignment with Sherbourne’s organizational values and culture.

about you:
You are a seasoned and a trusted HR advisor with the ability to build rapport across the organization. You are able to multi-task and play an integral role in the HR department as you oversee and manage human resources services, policies and programs for Sherbourne. While collaborating with the management team, you will also continue to foster a positive work environment through relationships with staff and the union. As the HR Manager, you are an excellent communicator and have great listening skills as you serve as a resource for management, staff and volunteers in all matters related to human resources.

required qualifications:
The successful candidate will be an experienced HR professional who has completed a post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management or a related program. Over the last five years, you have built your experiences in a progressive generalist role or have worked three years at the HR Management level in the health care or public sector, You currently are a Certified Human Resources Leader or have a professional designation. You have expert knowledge and hands-on experience with the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act, and, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. You have proven experience with labour relations, specifically the collective bargaining process. You are a collaborator with excellent interpersonal, relationship building and negotiation skills.
