I’ve been on the streets here in Toronto for 10 years. I’ve been seeing Dr. Larisa Eibisch for over 10 years. In 2024, I lost my leg to flesh eating disease. I fractured my ankle, and it developed an infection, being on the streets. I was very sick. They had to cut my leg three times. I was in the ICU twice for each cut. I was in the hospital for four months, and I had no memory for the first two. And you gotta understand, I went in there with two legs at the hospital, and I woke up with just one leg. So it was very devastating to me. Now I’ve done the rehab and I have a prosthetic.
It’s been a journey to get to where I’m at now. But now, it’s a new beginning, a new start. I’ve been determined. I’ve been given a second chance. I’m on this earth for a reason, whether I have one leg or two legs. And Erin and Larisa, they’ve all been so warm and kind. Sure, I could find a doctor closer to me, and they’re trying to find me one, but I don’t want one. I just want to keep seeing Larisa. Just recently, Erin saw me for the first time walking. Same with Larisa. They’ve seen how far I’ve come.
