Chiropody and Foot Health
Learn more about our foot health and chirpody services.
Chiropodists and podiatrists are specialists in foot care and foot wounds.
In collaboration with the Downtown East Ontario Health Team (DET OHT), Sherbourne Health is currently offering appointments with a chiropodist to eligible individuals. Visit the DET OHT website to learn more about this initiative.
Appointment Eligibility
- Do you live in the downtown east, mid-east Toronto and/or have no fixed address?
This includes people who reside in the general catchment area bordered to the north by St. Clair Ave. E and to the south by Lake Ontario, as well as to the west by Bathurst St. and to the east by Pape Ave. If you have no fixed address but live in a shelter, sleep rough or couch surf in this area, you also meet this criteria. - Are you WITHOUT private insurance for chiropody or podiatry?
If you have partial or full private insurance for chiropody you are not eligible to access our services. You are welcome to reach out to a local qualified private foot specialist via organizations like the Ontario Society of Chiropodists. - Do you have ANY of the following conditions?
- Diabetes
- Barriers to taking care of your own feet
- Presence of Neuropathy (nerve damage in your feet or lower legs)
- Peripheral Artery Disease (reduced blood flow in your legs)
- History of foot wound or amputation
- Taking medications that might affect the foot or treatment of the foot? (some medications, like blood thinners, mean you should have your feet looked after by a professional)
- Concerns about skin integrity (like fissures, calluses, verruca)?
- Foot pain or problems walking
If you answered YES to all of the above eligibility questions, please have your health care provider use our screening tool to refer you to the service that will suit your needs.
