Big Moves at Sherbourne Health
Change and action are what it takes to get it right for our clients. Here’s a few of the moves we’re making to serve our community better.
Department relocations
Sherbourne Health has seen significant growth in recent years and increases in our clinical capacity. Following extensive consultation with clients and stakeholders, a clear need emerged: we needed to better utilize our space to match our growing services and to how staff collaborate with department colleagues.
After several months of planning, physical restructuring is now underway and a few notable moves may change where clients access services.
Earlier this year, our Health Bus, Hep C, and Harm Reduction teams moved into a bigger space on the first floor.
Over the summer, Community Health and Capacity-Building Initiatives— which encompass programming like Supporting Our Youth, Trans and Non-Binary Programs, and the Diabetes Education Program — found a new home in the second floor annex, a wing connected to the Great Hall.
An efficient new check-in option is coming to Sherbourne
Starting in November, countertop kiosks will be available in our reception areas for clients to self-check-in before their appointments. For service users who prefer speaking to staff, our medical secretaries will continue to be available to assist you.
“To serve everyone the best we can, we want to ensure our systems are efficient for both our staff and clients,” says Monika Dalmacio, Director of Clinical Operations. “This upgrade to our check-in system is a convenient option that will make it faster for clients to check-in for booked appointments and get more support from our medical secretary team for other needs. We’re excited for our community to experience these improvements.”
Enhancing Our Dedicated Harm Reduction Space
Accessibility is a priority at Sherbourne Health. To reduce barriers for our clients, STASH, our drop-in space for people who use drugs, will move closer to the first floor’s side entrance, which will be modified with an accessible ramp.
Coming Soon
There’s more change in store! The Sherbourne Health Food For Good Cafe will be opening very soon, and we’ll be sure to let everyone know when they can stop by for a fair-trade coffee and a treat as soon as our doors open. We’ll also be making some changes around our first and second floor waiting rooms, and we’ll keep people posted about those developments as well.
Thanks to all of our service users and our staff for their patience as we work to make our space and services better!
